Who publishes these guides

Destin Bulkhead is an independent planning and referral website, not a contractor, engineer or public agency. Requests may be shared with a partner contractor, and we may receive compensation for an introduction. That business model does not decide what the guides say about codes, permits or costs.

How facts are sourced

We work from primary records: codes and ordinances, statutes and rules, agency pages, NOAA and NWS data and public bids. Each local fact keeps its source link, check date and limits. A fact we could not read on a primary source is not published.

Preliminary data is labeled. For example, the Hurricane Isaias water levels we cite come from the first NWS report, which says assessments were still under way. NWS Isaias report

• Current code text takes priority over an older summary or brochure.
• When two official sources disagree, we say so or leave the number out.
• When we did not find a rule, we say what we reviewed rather than claim none exists.

Prices and fees

We do not invent local price ranges. A construction price appears only from a published source, with its year, scope and place. Permit fees come from the adopted fee schedule, such as Destin’s Resolution 25-10. Destin Resolution 25-10

Public project budgets are labeled as public works. They are not turned into a price for your home.

Images, diagrams and maps

The waterfront scenes are generated conceptual images. They set the visual theme; they are not photos of completed projects, partner work or a specific property. Diagrams explain ideas, and maps show general locations.

How to send a correction

If you see an error, send the page address, the statement and the record that shows the correct information through the contact page. We check the source and update the page when the record supports a change.
